Reflexology and Reiki with Teresa Tinklin

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an Ancient Healing Art that is based on the principle that the feet (and hands) are like mini-maps of the whole body, so any body system can be accessed and stimulated by massaging the corresponding area of the foot. If you have a particular condition, such as a digestive disorder or hormonal imbalance, the reflexologist, by working on the related part of the foot, stimulates that part of the body to rebalance itself and restore itself to health. Reflexology provides a helping hand for your body's own healing processes, helping your body to restore and maintain health.

It is a holistic therapy - working on the whole system rather than just the prevailing symptoms. It is both relaxing and stimulating. Through relaxation it helps the body rebuild its energy resources and recover from illness, stress and disease. Through stimulation, it activates the circulation and the nervous system, making both more efficient and benefiting the body as a whole.

If you don't have a specific condition that you are trying to address, a Reflexology treatment can provide a place to relax, rest and unwind, relieving stress while helping your body maintain good health.

What are the Effects of Reflexology?

Reflexology can:

  • improve circulation, thereby increasing the efficiency of all organs and cells of the body
  • help to relieve stress and tension
  • release trapped nervous energy and improve the efficiency of neural pathways
  • improve waste removal and elimination
  • activate the body's own self-healing systems

What Happens during the Treatment?

During the initial session, I will first talk to you to find out about your reasons for coming, your health and lifestyle. I will then use my hands to work on your feet, adapting the treatment to suit your particular needs and state of health. During the treatment you will be lying confortably on a treatment couch and it will only be necessary to remove your socks and shoes. I will cleanse your feet before the treatment begins.

The first session normally lasts one and a quarter hours and subsequent treatments usually last one hour. I may recommend a course of treatments depending on your individual needs. Many people like to continue with regular treatmetns afterwards in order to keep their bodies in balance and to maintain health and well-being or simply as a way to unwind, relieve stress or take time out for yourself.
